How to choose the right size for your child
Height, chest and a little room to grow: simple checks that make buying kids' clothes easier.
Children grow quickly and every brand cuts its sizes a little differently, so choosing by age alone can be misleading. A few simple checks help you pick a size that fits today and still lasts for a while.
Start with measurements. Measure your child's height, chest and waist with a soft tape, then compare them with the size of the piece instead of relying only on the age written on the label. Height is usually the most useful number.
Check how the piece will be worn. Tops and jackets should allow free movement of the arms and shoulders, pants should not squeeze the waist when your child sits, and sleeves and legs can be folded once if you buy a size up.
Leave a little room to grow, but not too much. One size up is usually enough for everyday pieces, while very large pieces can be uncomfortable and unsafe for running and playing.
